5,000 ft² of custom palladiana terrazzo within a historic bank, transformed into a grand café and chocolaterie.
Originally designed in 1927 by Shreve & Lamb, whose firm later designed the Empire State Building, the former bank carries a distinguished architectural pedigree. Its monumental proportions and classical detailing established the foundation for its transformation into a grand café and chocolaterie.
The new interior respects that legacy through a carefully considered palette of marble, brass, rich upholstery, and custom palladiana terrazzo. Contemporary hospitality design is integrated into the historic setting without compromising its architectural character.

The building retains the commanding presence of its original architecture along Warren Street. Behind its historic façade, a former institution has found new life as a grand café and chocolaterie.
The installation required precise layout of the divider strips and individual placement of Carrara marble across 5,000 ft². The marble was integrated into a finely textured terrazzo matrix, then ground and polished to achieve a continuous, refined finish.

The approved terrazzo sample established the aggregate composition, color, and texture of the matrix surrounding the larger Carrara marble pieces.

Brass divider strips established the floor layout, while individual Carrara marble pieces were carefully positioned throughout the historic banking hall.

The installed palladiana terrazzo was ground and polished to reveal the marble composition, creating a continuous architectural surface across the grand café.
